In order to get the battery life we do out of our radios, we use special D/C cell batteries unlike the normal alkaline batteries you would find in your big box stores. The batteries we use are Thionyl Chloride Lithium batteries. Unlike Lithium-Ion these are not rechargeable but have a considerably large capacity in turn.
